Examination Fee:
Rs 100/- (One Hundred Only), For Females and SC/ST/PH Candidates Fee is exempted, Registration fees for UPSC Mains Exam, Those who cleared prelims and are admitted for Mains will be required to pay Rs. 200/- as in the prescribed form by UPSC.

Eligibility:
As IAS and IPS are “All India Civil Services” the candidate has to satisfy the following aspects as stated (conditions for qualifications, age and
Eligibility are given below)
  • Nationality
  • Age Limitations
  • Educational Qualifications

Nationality
  • For the All India services (IAS, IPS, IFS) the candidates must be compulsorily the citizen of India
For the all others services candidate must be either
  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1stJanuary 1962 with the intention of settling permanently in India
  • Person of Indian origin (POI) migrated from the countries Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the united Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of settling permanently in the country, India.

Age criteria

Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and not less than 30 years on 1st august of the year in which he/she is appearing for the prelims examination
For example: If a candidate who is willing to attempt in the prelims exam in the year 2016 he must be in the age between 21-30 years as on the august 1st, 2016.

Age relaxation (relaxation means considered) if any one of the following criteria if the candidate have or met,  he will be considered to write examination, subjected to reservation concept these are age relaxation as given below.

For candidates domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir state during the period 1st January 1980 to 31st December , 1989

In the case of Ex-service men including ECOs/SSCOs who served for at least 5 years


Up to 5 years

For Blind deaf-mute and orthopedically handicapped candidates


Up to 10 years

In case of ECOs/SSCOs who completed initial assignments of 5 years military service


Up to 5 years


Educational Qualifications:

In Brief we can say those who completed their bachelor Degree from any streams under recognized university or institutions are eligible to attempt UPSC Civil Service examination
The Eligibility for IAS, UPSC services the candidate should hold a degree of any universities that are incorporated by act of the central or state legislative bodies in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed a University under section-3 of the university Grants Commission (UGC) 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
OR
Candidates passing professional and technical Bachelor degrees from the institutions recognized by the government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also eligible for admission to the examination
OR
The candidate who have passed the final professional MBBS or any other medical examination but have not completed their internship by the time of submission of their applications for Civil services (main) examination, will be provisionally admitted to the examination provided they submit along with their application a copy of certificate from the concerned authority of university/institution that they had passed the requisite final professional medical examination
OR
In short we can say that the candidates who had qualified the minimum bachelor degree from the recognized educational institutions of the governments are eligible to take the test subjected to conditions specified by UPSC board

Note: The criteria for the Eligibility for IAS, IPS, and other services Educational qualifications and Age relaxations are subjected to change if necessary by the UPSC board, so keep a regular watch and check the notification in detail regarding the criteria and all the issues relating to qualification, educational that are required to take an attempt for the examination

UPSC Important Exam Dates: 


Complete One year Exam not month/days/few weeks

The whole process of examination Prelims, Mains and Interviews takes one year to complete, If you write Prelims now, the Mains is after 3-4 months and then after 2-3 months of mains interviews are scheduled for conducting and finalizing the successful candidates it takes another 3-4 months, so to give an attempt it takes nearly one year for the candidate, So, if you fail in prelims, you have to wait again for one more year to write prelims again, you valuable year is lost in preparation process so be careful if you are preparing for civil’s examination.
