How to apply and frequently asked Question?

Instructions for first time applicants

For the candidates who are applying for the very 1st time may have some questions regarding application fill up, that arises when applying for UPSC ONLINE. Please read the guidelines that are listed in the upsc website itself, before filling up the application.

1.) How to apply for the examination?
Official site to apply for the civil s is   https://upsconline.nic.in/ first install the certificates at the bottom of the page left side in home page of http://upsconline.nic.in  this assure you to not encounter with software problem at the time of application

Then after open the site and click on civil service registration, then it opens into new window where Part-1 registration and Part-2 registration are available
Part-1 - After completing Part – I, you will get unique Registration ID

Then using registration ID you need to fill the Part -2 sessions
After Part-2, you will be directed to payment page after completing of all the sessions, then final submit your application will be submitted to UPSC Board, any mismatch in application process like improper photograph upload, signature not proper upload etc will led to invalidation of the application.

2.) How to fill application?
In the home page of UPSC website there are clear guidelines to the candidates about the notification and instructions, at the top right column you will find them, read carefully each step upsc instructions and the site guides you through each session to complete further application process.

3.) What is community, community certificate, non creamy layer, community certification date in part-1 registration?
Community certificate is for claiming age relaxations and reservation, if you are under a creamy layer you will considered under general category, if you are not belonging to creamy layer, you must have the certificate, calming your caste under SC/ST s? OBC category and the application is of the format CLICK HERE (Issued by competent authority at your place (in Tahsildar, M-Seva centres, etc,) Community certificate date is that date which is mentioned on the community certificate.

4.) How to correct if mistakes found after filling application?
If you successfully completed part-1 registration and you remember that there are some mistakes you can’t go back and edit them, instead make again and fresh registration from part-1 onwards, At any point you found any mistakes or realize lately that you have done some mistakes at the time of filling, apply freshly again, Apply as soon as possible to get the centre of your choice, as there is a restriction to the number of candidates for the centres

5.) What is the fee to apply for civil services Exam or IAS Exam?
Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ ST/PH Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card

Registration fees for UPSC Mains Exam
Those who cleared prelims and are admitted for Mains will be required to pay RS. 200/- as in the prescribed form by UPSC

NOTE: State community certificate is different with Central community certificate and the remaining information is simple you can fill it yourself with the uploading of photo signature and declaration you complete application process.

Some tips useful to fill UPSC Online application
1.     Use the following photo editors MS-paint or Irfan-view, Ms Photo manage or any available software’s for editing the photos and signatures
2.     Use mobile number that is active, so that you won’t miss any alerts and messages from UPSC
3.     Provide 2 mail addresses. 1st is mandatory and 2nd is optional, to ensure the safe side for example if you lose your mail id, password, you will have the other mail to access
4.     Keep all the documents safely right from registration to final confirmation process, most of us save in computer and take it out at the time of requirement, but if computer crashes for other reasons what you will do, at a time even you don’t have no Registration number so better to make  printed copy aside
5.     Keep a copy of filled details in your mail box too, may be it may useful when required or for safety
6.     Check the photo and signature properly, poor quality ones are likely to get rejected

Note: Complete One year Exam not /days/months/few weeks

The whole process of examination Prelims, Mains and Interviews takes one year to complete, If you write Prelims now, the Mains is after 3-4 months and then after 2-3 months of mains interviews are scheduled for conducting and finalizing the successful candidates it takes another 3-4 months, so to give an attempt it takes nearly one year for the candidate, So, if you fail in prelims, you have to wait again for one more year to write prelims again, you valuable year is lost in preparation process so be careful if you are preparing for civils examination
