Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE-Advanced)

JEE advanced is the exam for admission of students into IIT. It is conducted annually once. Formerly JEE advanced is called (IIT-JEE). This examination is conducted by one of the seven zonal IIT’s (IIT- Roorkee, IIT- Kharagpur, IIT-  Delhi, IIT- Kanpur, IIT- Bombay, IIT- Madras, and IIT- Guwahati)

It is the common and single admission test for 23 IIT’s. Institutions like RGIT (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, IISER’s and IISC use JEE advanced for admission

JEE (Advanced) started being conducted online.

Eligibility Criteria:

• The candidate should be among top 224,000 candidates in Examination JEE (Mains)
• The candidate should be less than 25years of age, for others SC/ST/PWD the age limit is 30 years
• The candidate have appeared Class XII Examination first time in last year examination or same year
• The candidate should not have taken or accepted admission in any IIT’s earlier

Selection Process and Admission Procedure:

The candidates should score minimum of 75% in Class XII examination.

Must be in top 20% marks of the examination board

Candidates qualifying in the JEE (Advanced) are eligible to admission in the 23 IITs.

JEE (Advanced) – Latest updates and changes

There were several changes made in the exam from 2018. The Joint Admission Board (JAB) decided to conduct the entire exam online from 2018 since it reduces chances of paper leak and makes logistics and evaluation easier. It said that the online exam will neutralise the problem of misprinting.
