About CAT (Common Admission Test)

CAT exam or the Common Admission Test is a computer-based MBA entrance test for admissions into the IIMs and several other prestigious B-Schools in the Country. CAT exam is conducted every year by the IIMs on a rotational basis and CAT exam is expected to conduct by IIM Kozhikode.

CAT Exam Eligibility

Students to be able to get eligible for CAT, candidates to fulfil the following criterion:
  • Student should hold a Bachelor’s Degree and have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • Students of category SC/ST/PWD should secure at least 45% marks.
  • Applicants who are appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree and the students who have completed their graduation degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply.

Pattern of CAT
1.    Total no. of Questions 100
2.    Total Marks 300
3.    Total Sections 3
4.    Total Time Duration: 180Minutes
5.    Negative marks: -1 for incorrect answer
6.    Section and Syllabus details: Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, and Data Interpretation.

CAT Exam Syllabus

The syllabus is of middle School level which contains the sections and topics of Maths, and English & logical reasoning questions. A brief of CAT syllabus is as follows:

CAT Quantitative Aptitude:

Contains the topics like geometry, algebra, number systems, and other topics which are of class 8th to 10th level

CAT Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation: 

The logical contains the topics like seating arrangement, direction test, coding, graphical analysis and data interpretation etc.

CAT Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension: 

In this section, comprehension passages are given followed by a few questions, grammar-based questions like sentence completion; jumbled sentences, etc.
